Call For Papers Environmental Research – Special Issue

by David Bloniarz - October 27th, 2014

Official approval has been granted by the Elsevier journal Environmental Research (www.journals.elsevier.com/environmental-research/) to publish a Special Issue on the topic: The Provision of Ecosystem Services in Response to Global Change (guest-editors: Raffaele Lafortezza & Jiquan Chen).

The aim of the special issue is to involve authors of original research, reviews, and synthesis studies. These potential authors will contribute to the special issue by illustrating general theories and methods, generating and analyzing natural and social datasets, developing integrated modeling techniques, and presenting state-of-the-art research results. We believe that this focus issue will play a critical role in improving our understanding of current knowledge, research gaps, and future research needs for ecosystem services provision in response to global change.

The full manuscript submission deadline is February 28, 2015. A guest editorial committee will work with the ER handling editors on the review process.

Global Change Research Symposium – Sept 16-18 Ostuni, Italy

by David Bloniarz - February 5th, 2014

Global Change Research Symposium will be held in Ostuni, Brindisi, Southern Italy on September 16-18, 2014.

Concern for ecosystem services and human well-being is one of the most compelling reasons to study the effects of global change, but in order to intervene, policymakers and resource managers need predictions of how humans and ecosystems respond, and recover from, anthropogenic stressors.

This Symposium will bring international leading scientists from relevant fields to discuss the theme of how global change research can support management decisions and interventions that are most urgently needed to mitigate different stressors and protect ecosystem services and human well-being.
